Nnamdi Asomugha is a Nigerian-American actor, producer, and former professional football cornerback. Born on July 6, 1981, He played college football for the California Golden Bears before he was selected in the first round of the 2003 NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders. He also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. Considered one of the best shutdown corners in the NFL, Asomugha made his mark throughout his illustrious 11-year career with his outstanding on-field performance, securing All-Pro honours four times, including twice to the first team. He retired in 2013 after achieving a reputation as one of the greatest Raiders. Moving into his post-football career, Asomugha made significant inroads in acting and producing. His portrayal of Carl King in the film Crown Heights (2017) was critically acclaimed, garnering nominations for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture. Variety named him one of the seven breakout performers of 2017. Asomugha was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Nigerian Igbo parents, but was raised in Los Angeles, California. His early life involved several trips to Nigeria, where his parents are from. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from theUniversity of California, Berkeley.
