Omar Epps

**Omar Hashim Epps**, born July 20, 1973, is a celebrated American actor, rapper, and producer. Epps's film roles have spanned a wide variety of genres, including 'Juice', 'Higher Learning', 'The Wood', 'In Too Deep', and 'Love & Basketball'. His television work is equally notable, with roles such as Dr. Dennis Gant on ER, J. Martin Bellamy in Resurrection, Dr. Eric Foreman on House, Isaac Johnson in Shooter, and Detective Malcolm Howard on Power Book III: Raising Kanan. Epps has been recognised with numerous awards across his career, totalling nine NAACP Image Awards, two Teen Choice Awards, one MTV Movie Award, one Black Reel Award, and one Screen Actors Guild Award. Beyond his acting career, Epps has also spent time as a rapper, forming a group called Wolfpack with his cousin in 1991. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Epps was raised by his mother, Bonnie Maria Epps, following his parents' divorce. He began writing poetry, short stories, and songs from the age of 10, and attended the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Epps made his feature film debut in 1992 in the film 'Juice' and the next year starred as a running back in the college football drama 'The Program'. His career also holds notable roles in sports dramas, including as a track and field star in John Singleton's 'Higher Learning'. Epps gained critical acclaim for his television role as Dr. Eric Foreman in the Fox series House, earning him three NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Epps continues to act today, most recently appearing in the 2022 supernatural horror 'The Deliverance'. Apart from acting, Omar is also vocal about anti-corruption, actively working with RepresentUs, a nonprofit organisation.
