Pat Roach

Francis Patrick Roach, better known as **Pat Roach**, was an English actor, professional wrestler, martial artist, and author. Born in Birmingham, West Midlands, he first came into prominence as a professional wrestler under the name _'Judo' Pat Roach_, later being billed as _'Bomber' Pat Roach_ and _'Big Pat Roach'_. Roach's first official wrestling match was against George Selko in 1960, going on to hold both the British and European heavyweight championships. In the 1970s, Roach transitioned to acting, his first noticeable role being the red-bearded bouncer in **Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange**. His career in film included roles in various renowned films such as _Barry Lyndon_, _Clash of the Titans_, _Never Say Never Again_, _Red Sonja_, _Willow_, _Conan the Destroyer_, and _Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves_. **George Lucas**, impressed by Roach, cast him in several parts in the _Indiana Jones_ series. *Television audiences will remember Roach as the West Country bricklayer Brian 'Bomber' Busbridge in the 1980s British series _Auf Wiedersehen, Pet_. Apart from acting and wrestling, Roach was a businessman, who co-managed a scrapyard and a gym in Birmingham during the 1990s.
