What's After the Movie
**Patrick Magee**, not to be confused with the Irish Republican of the same name, was a celebrated Northern Irish stage and film actor. Born on March 31, 1922, he had a prolific career that spanned several decades. Known for his unique and distinctive voice, Magee's performances often portrayed complex, tormented characters. Despite the breadth of his work, Magee is probably most recognized for his roles in Stanley Kubrick's films. He featured in Kubrick's *A Clockwork Orange* as the sadistic writer Frank Alexander. Before this, he had worked with Kubrick on *2001: A Space Odyssey*, where his delivery of a unique, eerie piece of dialogue proved unforgettable. Outside of Kubrick's works, Magee had an impressive body of work in various forms of media - from stage to radio to television to film. He worked in numerous theatre productions in both Ireland and England, further solidifying his diverse acting abilities. Unfortunately, Magee met a premature end when he passed away on August 14, 1982. Nevertheless, his contribution to the arts, particularly his vivid portrayals of deeply troubled characters, remains impactful even today. His performances continue to resonate with audiences, making Patrick Magee a truly unforgettable figure in the history of film and stage performing arts.
