What's After the Movie
American actress and comedian **Rachel Anne Sennott** was born on September 19, 1995 in Simsbury, Connecticut. She graduated from Simsbury High School in 2014 and attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. Sennott began her career on the New York City open mic scene with a regular gig on It's A Guy Thing. Sennott's career breakthrough came with her starring roles in the comedy films Shiva Baby (2020), Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022), Bottoms (2023), and I Used to Be Funny (2024). She also portrayed Rosie Shuster in the biographical comedy Saturday Night (2024) and had a supporting role in the HBO series The Idol (2023). She often collaborates with fellow actress and writer Ayo Edebiri. Her comedy focuses on contemporary millennial issues, and she maintains a distinctive 'messy' persona in her performances. She was named one of the six best comedians of the alt scene in 2019 by Time Out New York and Pop Dust. Her comedy has expanded to the world of television, where she appeared in HBO's High Maintenance, and played Jackie Raines on Call Your Mother. She co-developed two series for Comedy Central with Edebiri, Ayo and Rachel Are Single and Taking the Stage, which began airing in 2020. In addition to comedy and TV, Sennott also thrived in feature films. Her performances in the queer Jewish coming-of-age narratives, Tahara and Shiva Baby, were critically acclaimed. She continued to impress with her performance in the A24 comedy horror film Bodies Bodies Bodies, being named the standout performance of the film. She also began starring on the HBO drama series The Idol in June 2023. She sold a half-hour comedy pilot to HBO on March 18, 2024.
