What's After the Movie
Renate Reinsve, born on 24th November 1987, is a Norwegian actress who first made her film debut in Oslo, August 31st (2011). However, her breakthrough came in 2021 with her incredible performance in The Worst Person in the World (2021). This critically acclaimed drama earned her the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress and a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Following this success, she starred in the American legal thriller series Presumed Innocent and drama film A Different Man (both 2024). Reinsve's early life was marked by significant challenges. After being expelled from school at 16, she left Norway for Scotland, where she worked at a hostel bar in Edinburgh. Notably, her journey also included considering quitting acting and pursuing carpentry before her career-defining role as Julie in The Worst Person in the World. She went on to impress further with her performances in Aaron Schimberg's psychological drama A Different Man and Piero Messina's science-fiction romance Another End, both selected for the 74th Berlin International Film Festival. In addition, she starred in the film Armand, which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, and played a lover and victim in the Apple TV+ legal thriller series Presumed Innocent. She is set to reunite with Joachim Trier for the family drama film Sentimental Value.
