Rhys Montague Darby is a renowned New Zealand actor and comedian who was born on 21st March 1974. A master in the portrayal of energetic physical comedy routines, Darby narrates stories accompanied by mime and sound effects in the perfect impersonation of machinery and animals. His exceptional talent has led him to acquire numerous accolades, including nominations for the Billy T Award in 2001 and 2002, as well as being the recipient of the 2012 Fred (Dagg) Award for best NZ show at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival. Darby is popularly known for his role in the television series, Flight of the Conchords, where he plays the band manager, Murray Hewitt. He was also featured in several films such as Yes Man (2008), The Boat That Rocked (2009), Trolls (2016), and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) among others.

From 2022 to 2023, Darby starred in the HBO Max show Our Flag Means Death as pirate captain Stede Bonnet. Darby's career also extends in hosting duties, evidenced by his participation in the 51st International Emmy Awards in November 2023, and subsequently presenting at the 75th Creative Arts Emmy Awards in January 2024. His recent ventures also include a promotional video for the launch of the fifth expansion for 'Final Fantasy XIV', Dawntrail. He announced in November 2024 his plans to make a thrilling comeback to stand-up comedy with a new show named The Legend Returns, expected to tour in 2025.
