Robert A. Riggle Jr., better known as Rob Riggle, is an American actor, stand-up comedian, and retired United States Marine officer. Born on April 21, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky, Riggle joined the Marines in 1990 and later achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel. Riggle is well known for his work as a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show from 2006 to 2008, as well as a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 2004 to 2005. Riggle has also characterized himself in the sitcom Modern Family from 2013 to 2019, and has appeared in various films including Step Brothers, The Hangover, The Internship, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. Adding to these, he has co-starred in the Adult Swim comedy-action series NTSF:SD:SUV:: and currently co-hosts ABC's miniature golf game show series Holey Moley.
Born the son of Sandra and Robert Allen Riggle, he moved to Overland Park, Kansas at the age of two. Riggle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Film from the University of Kansas in 1992 and earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Webster University in 1997. In 1990, following the achievement of his pilot's license, Riggle joined the Marines, intending to be a naval aviator but left flight school to pursue a comedy career. Having experienced various international military missions, Riggle was recognized as a lieutenant colonel and received numerous commendations. He retired from the Marine Corps Reserve in 2013 after 23 years of service. Riggle later partnered with comedian Rob Huebel, making frequent appearances at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and in their former improvisational sketch comedy troupe Respecto Montalban. Riggle joined The Daily Show in 2006 and contributed to the sporting event coverage like the 2008 Olympics. Furthermore, Riggle has acted in a handful of TV series and has co-hosted on Stephen Curry's miniature golf game show Holey Moley.
