Born Robert Maillet in Georgetown, Ontario on October 26, 1969, Maillet is a Canadian actor and retired professional wrestler. Known for performing in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) between 1997 and 1999 under the ring name Kurrgan, he was a member of The Truth Commission and The Oddities. His wrestling career kickstarted in the early 90s as the Acadian Giant with his initial appearance in the WWF in 1991. In the 2000s, Maillet established his acting career with roles in films such as 300 (2007), Sherlock Holmes (2009), Immortals (2011), Pacific Rim (2013), Brick Mansions (2014), Hercules (2014), and Deadpool 2 (2018). Maillet was born in Georgetown, Ontario but he grew up in Ste-Marie-de-Kent, New Brunswick, a French-Acadian village. He is bilingual, fluent in both French and English.**

**After his wrestling career, Maillet pursued acting where he appeared in the 2006 film adaptation of Frank Miller's comic series, 300. He played a savage berserker as part of the enemy's imperial guard, introducing him to audiences globally. His acting career also involved a touch of controversy, when he inadvertently punched Robert Downey Jr. whilst filming a fight scene in Sherlock Holmes. Maillet has maintained a steady presence in the acting scene, appearing in a variety of roles across different genres. He had a recurring role in the series Haven, played a mutant mercenary in Deadpool 2, and recently appeared in the 2020 film Becky alongside Kevin James.
