Robert John Wagner Jr. (born February 10, 1930) is an American actor known for his roles in television and film. He starred in popular television shows such as 'It Takes a Thief' (1968–1970), 'Switch' (1975–1978), and 'Hart to Hart' (1979–1984). He later had recurring roles on 'Two and a Half Men' (2007–2008) and 'NCIS' (2010–2019). In film, Wagner is known for his role as Number 2 in the 'Austin Powers' trilogy (1997, 1999, 2002), as well as for 'Prince Valiant' (1954), 'A Kiss Before Dying' (1956), 'The Pink Panther' (1963), 'Harper' (1966), 'The Towering Inferno' (1974) and 'The Concorde ... Airport '79' (1979). He was born in Detroit, Michigan, to a telephone operator mother and a travelling salesman father who worked for the Ford Motor Company. Wagner became interested in acting and was signed under contract with 20th Century Fox. He later moved to Europe to continue his film career before returning to American television. He has been married four times, notably to the late actress Natalie Wood, and has two children.
Wagner has also had an active career in publishing, authoring several books about Hollywood. He co-authored 'Pieces of My Heart: A Life' (2008), 'You Must Remember This: The Life and Style of Hollywood’s Golden Age' (2014), and 'I Loved Her in the Movies: Memories of Hollywood’s Legendary Actresses' (2016) with Scott Eyman. He later became a spokesperson for the Senior Lending Network and the Guardian First Funding Group, both reverse mortgage lenders. Despite the tragic loss of his wife Natalie Wood in 1981, Wagner has continued to act and contribute to the film and television industry.
