What's After the Movie
Roger Winston Tzi-Chun Yuan, popularly known as Roger Yuan, is an incredibly skilled American martial artist, stuntman, actor, and fight choreographer, who was born on January 25, 1961. Yuan, originally from Carbondale, Illinois, has Taiwanese roots owing to his parents Theresa and Joseph Yuan. He spent his early years alternating between Taiwan and United States, eventually settling in New York City at the age of 5. Yuan was notably influenced by the martial arts prowess of Bruce Lee, that not only sparked his interest in the discipline, but motivated him to teach himself karate and judo. Following this, he formally trained in Kyokushin Karate at 17, and later moved to Los Angeles, where he enrolled in a Chun Kuk Do dojo under the United Fighting Arts Federation (UFAF) spearheaded by Chuck Norris. Through his relentless pursuit of self-improvement, he eventually became a fourth dan black belt and trained in American kickboxing, Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Qigong, gymnastics, and yoga, even acquiring a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As of 2024, he has performed stunts in over 40 films, including high-profile projects like: 'Rapid Fire', 'Escape from L.A.', 'Spawn', 'Blade', 'Warcraft', 'Jason Bourne', 'John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum', 'Dune', and 'Dune: Part Two'. Furthermore, he has also trained a number of high-profile actors such as Jennifer Lawrence, Jason Flemyng, Henry Cavill, and Keanu Reeves for their respective roles. Roger Yuan's acting repertoire is equally impressive, having acted in a number of notable films starting from the 1991 film, 'The Perfect Weapon' up to playing the main antagonist in 'Shanghai Noon' alongside Jackie Chan in 2000.
