What's After the Movie
Ronald Wilson Reagan (1911-02-06) was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois. He ventured into a career in film and television in the 1930s and 1940s, serving as the president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1947 to 1952, and again from 1959 to 1960. Reagan then made his foray into politics, being elected the 33rd Governor of California in 1967, serving until 1975. He was then elected the 40th President of the United States on January 20, 1981, serving in office until January 20, 1989. Reagan practiced and advocated for a laissez-faire philosophy, overseeing major neoliberal reforms known as 'Reaganomics', included monetarism and supply-side economics. His presidency is often associated with the end of the Cold War and harsh scrutiny of Soviet international behavior. Reagan passed away on June 5, 2004, but his influence on American politics and conservatism continues to be felt today.
