Rosa Salazar is an accomplished American actress renowned for her roles in several popular series and films. Born on July 16, 1985, in Washington, D.C, she began her acting journey in the NBC series Parenthood (2011–2012) and the FX anthology series American Horror Story: Murder House (2011). Her breakthrough came in 2019 when she portrayed the title character of the film Alita: Battle Angel. Salazar is also recognized for starring in the series Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021), which she co-produced. Additionally, she notably appeared in a variety of movies and series, including The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2015), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018), and Amazon's series Undone (2019–2022).

Salazar hails from a diverse ethnic background with a Peruvian father and a French-Canadian mother. Her passion for acting was ignited at a young age, ultimately studying drama at Prince George's Community College. While living in New York City, she featured in several CollegeHumor sketches before moving to Los Angeles in 2009. In LA, she made her film debut in Jamesy Boy, and landed recurring roles in two hit TV series. Her contribution to acting was honored in 2023 when she was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
