**Roshan Seth OBE**, born on 2 April 1942, is a prominent British-Indian actor, writer and theatre director known for his work in American, British, and Indian film industries. Seth commenced his acting career in the United Kingdom in the early 1960s, but left it behind to move to India and pursue journalism in the following decade. It was his stellar performance in Richard Attenborough's highly acclaimed, Academy Award-winning film, 'Gandhi', where Seth portrayed Jawaharlal Nehru that not only reignited his interest in acting but also brought him into the spotlight. This performance earned him a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He played an array of characters in various films, from Chattar Lal in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Amit Rao in A Passage to India, to Dhalsim in Street Fighter: The Movie, demonstrating his versatility. Seth was honoured with the Genie Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the Canadian film 'Such a Long Journey'. He was born in Patna, Bihar during the British Raj, to a Hindu father and a Muslim mother. His father was a biochemistry professor at Patna Medical College. Seth then moved to England for further training, where he trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 1965. His personal life involves his marriage to author Pepita Seth, that ended in divorce in 2004.
