Royal Dano

Royal Edward Dano Sr. (November 16, 1922 – May 15, 1994) was an American actor who had an illustrious career spanning 46 years. Perhaps best known for playing cowboys, villains, and Abraham Lincoln, Dano also provided the voice of the Audio-Animatronic Lincoln for Walt Disney's Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction and the "Hall of Presidents" attraction at Disney's Magic Kingdom. Born in New York City as the eldest of three siblings, he worked on various roles, displaying his versatility across genres.

Dano is remembered for his supporting roles in many 1950s western and mystery films. His chance for a breakout role came in the theatrical release of The Red Badge of Courage but was marred by the audience's unsettling response. Over the years, Dano made many television appearances in different roles, often with a bizarre, macabre twist. He was a frequent guest on Gunsmoke, with a total of thirteen appearances. Dano’s voice continued to be part of several attractions till 2001, post which it was returned in updated versions in 2009. Dano passed away on May 15, 1994, due to pulmonary fibrosis.
