Shahira Fahmy

Shahira Fahmy, born in 1974, is a renowned Egyptian architect and the founder and principal of Shahira Fahmy Architects (SFA), which she established in 2005 in Cairo, Egypt. A prolific figure in her field, Fahmy has also served as an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University. She embarked on her academic journey by obtaining a bachelor's and a master's degree in architecture from Cairo University in 1997 and 2004 respectively. She served as an instructor there from 1997 to 2007. Throughout her career, Fahmy has collaborated with international architects on various influential projects. Her most notable works include the new campus at American University in Cairo in 2005, and the design of the Ahmed Bahaa El-Din Cultural Center in 2010. Fahmy has been a guest speaker at many prestigious institutions. She has also participated in numerous architectural exhibitions worldwide. Adding to her vast and versatile repertoire, she made her acting debut in Hong Sang-soo's 2017 drama film Claire's Camera. Fahmy also holds memberships from Egyptian Engineering Syndicate, Society of Egyptian Architects, and the Egyptian Earth Construction Association, to name a few.
