Shannen Doherty

Shannen Maria Doherty (/ˈdoʊ.ərti/; April 12, 1971 – July 13, 2024) was an exceptional American actress. Her successful career spanned film and television, where she brought to life several notable characters, from Jenny Wilder in Little House on the Prairie (1982–1983) to Prue Halliwell in Charmed (1998–2001). She was the oldest Witherspoon sibling, Kris, on the family drama Our House (1986–1988), a portrayal that earned her a Young Artist Award nomination.

The defining moment of her career arrived in 1990 in the form of the character Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210. Her stint in the Kevin Smith's 1995 film Mallrats, her notorious appearances on Playboy magazine and hosting of the Sci-Fi Channel candid-camera show Scare Tactics (2003) added gravitas to her varied career. The latter part of her career also saw her starring in North Shore, Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty, and reprising her role as Brenda Walsh in 90210 revival among others.

Off-screen, Doherty garnered media attention for her tumultuous personal life and health struggles. She was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer in March 2015, which was later revealed to have metastasized to stage IV. She succumbed to the disease on July 13, 2024, at her home in Malibu, California, aged just 53.
