Shawn Mendes

Shawn Peter Raul Mendes, popularly known as Shawn Mendes, born on August 8, 1998, is an influential Canadian singer-songwriter. He gained substantial popularity in 2013 by posting song covers on Vine, a video-sharing platform. He caught the attention of Andrew Gertler, an artist manager, and Ziggy Chareton of Island Records, leading to his signing with the label. Mendes's debut EP was released in 2014, but his rise to fame escalated after the release of his debut studio album, Handwritten, in 2015. The album topped the US billboards, making Mendes one of five artists ever to debut at number one before turning 18. Mendes's other albums like Illuminate (2016) and his self-titled album, Shawn Mendes (2018), were also widely successful, with many of his singles peaking at the top positions in several countries. His most recent album, Wonder (2020), made him the youngest male artist ever to top the Billboard 200 with four studio albums. Mendes is a recipient of multiple accolades, including 13 SOCAN awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards, eight Juno Awards, and eight iHeartRadio MMVAs. He was named one of Time's 100 most influential people in the world in 2018.
