Sherwan Haji, born Sherwan Diyako Haji on March 18, 1985, is a distinguished Finnish-Syrian actor, filmmaker and writer. A significant figure in the film industry, Haji launched his acting career after graduating from the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts in Damascus, leading to several featured roles in various TV series for renowned channels in the Middle East. In 2010, Haji relocated to Finland to continue his studies. In 2012, he embarked on a new venture by setting up his own production company, Lion's Line Ltd. This move highlighted his versatility, extending his expertise beyond acting to include producing documentaries, fiction movies, and facilitating art workshops. He has also worked as an educator, proving his commitment to sharing his knowledge and passion for filmmaking. In a desire to continue his education, Haji moved to Cambridge, U.K, earning a degree of Master of Arts with distinction in Film and TV Production from Anglia Ruskin University in 2016. The year 2017 saw Haji collaborating with renowned Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki for the film The Other Side of Hope, a critical success wherein Haji played a pivotal role. His exceptional performance in the movie garnered him the Best Actor award at the Dublin International Film Festival.
