Sidse Babett Knudsen

**Sidse Babett Knudsen** (Born November 22, 1968) is a renowned Danish actress who works across an array of platforms namely theatre, television, and film. Her screen debut came in 1997 through an improvisational comedy titled 'Let's Get Lost', earning her both the Robert and Bodil awards for Best Actress. Knudsen, who is frequently lauded for her portrayals, is regarded as one of the top Danish actresses of her generation. Following her successful debut, she claimed best actress awards for the second time in 2000, for her role in the comedy romance 'Den Eneste Ene' (English title: The One and Only). By 2016, Knudsen's prowess earned her the César Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film 'Courted' (L'Hermine). She also received award nominations for her roles in 'Monas Verden' (Mona's World) and 'Efter brylluppet' (After the Wedding). Knudsen received international acclaim for her role as the fictional Danish Prime Minister Birgitte Nyborg in the Danish TV series 'Borgen', as well as for her role as Theresa Cullen in the HBO science fiction-Western television series 'Westworld'. Born in Copenhagen to a photographer and a school teacher, Knudsen spent a portion of her childhood in Tanzania where her parents engaged in volunteer work. On returning to Denmark, she attended a 'creative school'. Despite knowing very little French, Knudsen studied acting at the Theatre de l'Ombre in Paris between 1987 to 1990. Upon her return, she performed for the experimental theatre OVINE 302, at the Betty Nansen Theatre and at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen.
