Simon Rex

Simon Rex Cutright (born July 20, 1974), known professionally as Simon Rex and his stage name Dirt Nasty, is an American actor, rapper, and record producer. He first rose to fame when he became an MTV VJ. Subsequently, he diversified his career into acting and delivered stand-out performances in What I Like About You, a handful of the Scary Movie franchise films, and National Lampoon's Pledge This! Rex later developed a rap persona, Dirt Nasty, and co-founded the hip-hop group called Three Loco. In 2021, he gained wider acclaim for his leading role in Sean Baker's drama film Red Rocket.

Rex was born and raised in San Francisco, California. Rex enjoyed a solitary childhood as an only child. He dipped his toes into the world of entertainment when he responded to an ad, which led to his first gig, being photographed nude. While accompanying his girlfriend to a casting audition, a casting director spotted Rex and soon this youngster from San Francisco was on a flight to Milan to work as a model. His major break came in 1995 when he was hired as a VJ by MTV. This gave him a platform to showcase his charisma and he was kept on air for over two years. His career took a turn when he entered the music industry and became a rap artist. He assumed the moniker Dirt Nasty, formed the rap group Dyslexic Speedreaders, and achieved considerable success.
