Skylar Astin

Skylar Astin, born as Skylar Astin Lipstein on September 23, 1987, is an American actor known for his roles in film, theater, and television. He gained prominence as Jesse Swanson in the musical films Pitch Perfect (2012) and Pitch Perfect 2 (2015). Astin began his career in theater, originating the role of Georg in the Broadway musical Spring Awakening. His film credits also include Hamlet 2 (2008), Taking Woodstock (2009), Cavemen (2013), and 21 & Over (2013). On television, he played Greg Serrano in the last season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and starred as Max in the musical dramedy Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (2020). He later starred in the television drama So Help Me Todd, airing from September 2022 to May 2024.

Astin was born and raised in New York City, attending the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University before taking a leave of absence to star in Spring Awakening. His agent encouraged him to adopt his middle name, Astin, as his stage surname when he was 15 years old. His career began in theater with a minor role in Spring Awakening and transitioned to film with roles in Hamlet 2 and other films. His work in Hamlet 2 led to him being signed by the United Talent Agency. His breakout role came in 2012 when he starred in Pitch Perfect. His career has continued to flourish, with roles in theater, film, and television, including a recurring role in the eighteenth season of Grey's Anatomy.
