Steve Guttenberg

**Steven Robert Guttenberg** (born August 24, 1958) is a multi-talented American figure, recognized for his work as an actor, author, businessman, producer, and director. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Ann Iris (née Newman), a surgical assistant, and Jerome Stanley Guttenberg, an electrical engineer. He graduated from Plainedge High School and attended a summer program at the Juilliard School. Guttenberg starred in popular films such as Cocoon, Police Academy, Three Men and a Baby and Short Circuit. He moved to California to pursue an acting career and quickly landed a commercial with Kentucky Fried Chicken. His first screen credit was in the TV movie Something for Joey (1977). Guttenberg's career soared with movies like Police Academy which grossed $149 million worldwide against a budget of $4.5 million. He continued to work diligently, appearing in nine starring roles within four years. He enjoyed massive success with Three Men and a Baby alongside Tom Selleck and Ted Danson. Beyond acting, Guttenberg was involved in directing and producing as well. Later, he worked on television, appearing in the NBC remake of The Poseidon Adventure (2005). He continued to work through the late 2000s and into the 2010s appearing on Broadway in Woody Allen's one-act play Honeymoon Hotel. In 2020, his latest work was his role in the Lifetime film How to Murder Your Husband: The Nancy Brophy Story. Besides his film and TV work, Guttenberg is known for his philanthropic efforts, especially towards improving opportunities for the homeless and young people. He is also an author, having published several books.
