Taran Hourie Killam is an American actor and comedian, born April 1, 1982, who made his first notable appearance on the Fox comedy series MADtv during the 2001-2002 season. However, he garnered wider success as a regular cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 2010 to 2016. Killam has also made notable performances in various other television productions such as Wild 'n Out, The Amanda Show, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, and a key role in Single Parents. He has voiced characters in animated series, notably in PBS children's series Nature Cat.
In addition to his television career, Killam is known for his work in Broadway theatre. Most notably, he acted the role of King George III in Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre from January 17, 2017, to April 13, 2017. He further broadened his horizons in the entertainment industry by co-writing The Illegitimates, a six-issue comics miniseries published by IDW Publishing. Killam is also known for his role in the 2013 historical drama film 12 Years a Slave. In his personal life, he's married to actress Cobie Smulders and together they have two daughters.
