Kim Chi-hun, known professionally as Teo Yoo, is a German-born South Korean actor born on April 11, 1981. With notable roles in both film and theatre, his work spans a variety of genres and languages. He is best recognized for his portrayal of Viktor Tsoi in the musical film Leto (2018), for which he received considerable acclaim and won the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best New Actor in 2021. In 2023, he marked a turning point in his career with a widely-recognised role in the romantic drama film Past Lives, earning a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. By 2024, he had achieved one of the pinnacle accomplishments of any actor's career, receiving an invitation to join the ranks of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Teo Yoo was born and raised in Cologne, Germany, the son of a miner and a nurse. An ambitious young man, after completing his high school education in Germany, he moved to New York to study acting at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. Later on, he further honed his acting skills at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Fluent in German, English, and Korean, Yoo has crafted a diverse and successful acting career.
