Tom Skerritt

Thomas Roy Skerritt, an American actor and director, was born on August 25, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan. He embarked on his acting career in 1962, sparking a six-decade-long dedication to film and television. His breakthrough came with his role as Duke Forrest in Robert Altman's MAS*H, after which he graced a number of renowned films such as The Turning Point, Up in Smoke, Ice Castles, Alien, The Dead Zone, Top Gun, and A River Runs Through It.

Skerritt's talents extended beyond the big screen, with a leading role in the family drama Picket Fences (1992-96), for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and received two Golden Globe nominations. He was also featured in the sixth season of the sitcom Cheers. Throughout his career, Skerritt accumulated numerous prestigious nominations and awards, including being a three-time nominee for the Screen Actors Guild Award and received the International Press Academy's honorary Mary Pickford Award in 2022. In addition to his acting career, Skerritt served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 after graduating high school. He has a rich life outside his career, with three marriages and five children.
