Tony Leung Ka Fai

**Tony Leung Ka-fai** is a renowned actor with roots in Hong Kong who has spent over three decades perfecting his art. Born on 1 February 1958, he has established himself in a variety of roles that range from historical figures to contemporary characters. His first encounter with the spotlight was in his debut film, *Burning of the Imperial Palace* (1983), in which he portrayed the Xianfeng Emperor. Tony went on to work with popular faces in the industry, like Chow Yun-fat, in movies including *Prison on Fire* (1987), *A Better Tomorrow 3* (1989), and *God of Gamblers Returns* (1994). He also played Joyce Godenzi's husband in *She Shoots Straight*, a film that is today considered Joyce's trademark creation. Tony's career has taken him to different parts of the world, including France in 1991, where he starred in Jean-Jacques Annaud's *The Lover* as the older lover of a young teen schoolgirl. This role was played by Jane March in Marguerite Duras's novel which the movie was based. Despite an opportunity to portray the title character of *The Last Emperor* in 1987, Tony declined due to other engagements. Tony's credentials also extend to international recognition, with a role in the horror film *Double Vision* alongside American actor David Morse, and movies like *The Myth* (2005), *Everlasting Regret* (2005), and *Election* (2005). His exceptional talent earned him his fourth Best Actor award for his performance in *Cold War* at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards. He also showcased his versatility by featuring in Mayday's music video "Tough" in 2016.
