What's After the Movie
Walter Jack Gotell (born Walter Jacques Goettel; 15 March 1924 – 5 May 1997) was an illustrious German-British actor. Born to Jewish parents, he immigrated to the United Kingdom in 1938 due to the rising antisemitism in his home country. He was naturalised as a British citizen in 1948. His acting career started during his teen years due to the shortage of young actors during WWII. His casting primarily revolved around Nazi German villains and military men due to his bilingualism. His first noteworthy role in the James Bond film series commenced in 1963, when he played the henchman Morzeny in From Russia With Love. From the late 70s, he took up the recurring role of KGB General Anatol Gogol in the series, making his mark as one of the few actors to have played both a villain and a Bond ally in the film series.
