The 19th Academy Awards were held on Thursday, March 13, 1947 at the Shrine Civic Auditorium, honoring films released in 1946. The ceremony featured memorable wins such as Olivia de Havilland’s Best Actress award for To Each His Own and Fredric March’s Best Actor win in The Best Years of Our Lives, which also received the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award for Samuel Goldwyn. Special awards were presented to Ernst Lubitsch and for outstanding achievements in cinematography, art direction, and supporting performances.
