Avi Nesher

Avi Nesher is a critically acclaimed Israeli film producer, director, screenwriter and actor, known for his diverse and impactful contributions to cinema. Born in Ramat Gan, Israel, his childhood was split between his homeland and the United States due to his father's diplomatic profession. His formative years were strongly influenced by international relations, a field he studied at Columbia University. His career in film started in 1979 with his directorial venture, 'HaLahaka', which achieved immense commercial success. His 1984 movie, 'Rage & Glory' narrated the story of the Zionist struggle against the British mandate, garnering international acclaim. His move to Hollywood was prompted by producer Dino De Laurentiis, and he went on to direct the sci-fi mystery 'Timebomb' for MGM. His later works mirrored an array of themes, from tax investigation in 'Taxman' to the socio-cultural amalgamation of Moroccan and Indian Jews in 'Turn Left at the End of the World'.
