Burr Gore Steers, born October 8, 1965, is an esteemed American actor, screenwriter, and director. He is the proud nephew of prolific writer Gore Vidal and has cemented his place in the film industry with films including Igby Goes Down (2002) and 17 Again (2009). Steers was born in Washington, D.C., to businessman and Republican congressman Newton Ivan Steers, Jr. and Nina Gore Auchincloss. Through his mother, he is related to various notable figures, such as stockbroker and lawyer Hugh D. Auchincloss, Vice President Aaron Burr, and Thomas Gore, Oklahoma's first Democratic senator. Burr Steers's godfather was former Virginia Senator John Warner. With such an intriguing family background, Steers spent his early days in Bethesda, Maryland and Georgetown, Washington, D.C. He was educated at St. Albans School and New York University, despite facing expulsion from the Hotchkiss School and Culver Military Academy.
