Burr Gore Steers, born October 8, 1965, is an esteemed American actor, screenwriter, and director. He is the proud nephew of prolific writer Gore Vidal and has cemented his place in the film industry with films including Igby Goes Down (2002) and 17 Again (2009). Steers was born in Washington, D.C., to businessman and Republican congressman Newton Ivan Steers, Jr. and Nina Gore Auchincloss. Through his mother, he is related to various notable figures, such as stockbroker and lawyer Hugh D. Auchincloss, Vice President Aaron Burr, and Thomas Gore, Oklahoma's first Democratic senator. Burr Steers's godfather was former Virginia Senator John Warner. With such an intriguing family background, Steers spent his early days in Bethesda, Maryland and Georgetown, Washington, D.C. He was educated at St. Albans School and New York University, despite facing expulsion from the Hotchkiss School and Culver Military Academy. His roller-coaster journey has lent a unique perspective to his creative pursuits. In addition to his recognizable surname, Steers's career is as fascinating as his lineage. Not only has he landed small roles in Quentin Tarantino's groundbreaking films such as Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, but he has also appeared in The Last Days of Disco, Fix and Gore Vidal's Billy the Kid. He showcased his directorial prowess with Igby Goes Down in 2002, a unique coming-of-age film that won much critical acclaim. Among his other credits are successful television series like Weeds, The L Word, Big Love, and The New Normal. He continued to ride this wave of success by directing the 2009 teen comedy film, 17 Again starring Zac Efron. Apart from his ongoing endeavors, Burr Steers directed the 2016 film adaptation of the parody novel, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
