David Gelb

David Gelb, born on October 16, 1983, is an esteemed American director of film and television, who has carved a niche for himself in the documentary genre. Born and raised in Manhattan, New York City, Gelb's fascination with filmmaking is deeply rooted in his family's longstanding relation with the arts. His father, Peter Gelb, held the revered position of general manager of the Metropolitan Opera, while his paternal grandfather, Arthur Gelb, was previously a managing editor of The New York Times. He started his educational journey at Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School, and later graduated from the University of Southern California.

Capturing the essence of dedication, artistry, and the pursuit of perfection, Gelb was able to appeal to a global audience. Following the film's success, he created two more food documentary series for Netflix - 'Chef's Table' and 'Street Food', further fueling his fame in the gastronomy-focused documentary space. His 2015 documentary, A Faster Horse, provided a riveting exploration of the development of the 2015 Ford Mustang, timed perfectly with the 50th anniversary of the first Mustang.
