Goro Miyazaki

Goro Miyazaki (宮崎 吾朗, Miyazaki Gorō, born January 21, 1967) is a distinguished Japanese landscape architect and animation director. Born in Tokyo to animators Hayao Miyazaki and Akemi Ōta, Miyazaki's landscape projects include the revered Ghibli Museum and Ghibli Park. In spite of having renowned animators as parents, Miyazaki decided to pursue landscape architecture, graduating from Shinshu University's School of Agriculture. After designing parks and gardens as a construction consultant, he contributed to the design of the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, serving as its director from 2001 to 2005. He played a lead role in the creation of Ghibli Park, which started operating in 2022. Miyazaki stepped into the world of animation with his first directorial venture Tales from Earthsea in 2006. Despite initial friction with his father over his industry inexperience, Hayao Miyazaki ultimately praised the film for its honesty. He has since directed two more films—From Up on Poppy Hill and Earwig and The Witch—and the TV series Ronja, the Robber's Daughter.
