Jonathan Mostow is an esteemed American film director, screenwriter, and producer born on November 28, 1961. He is recognized for his remarkable work in films such as 'Breakdown' (1997), 'U-571' (2000), 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' (2003), and 'Surrogates' (2009). Born in Woodbridge, Connecticut, his father George Daniel Mostow was a mathematician, and his mother served as a social worker. He was nurtured in a Conservative Jewish household and had acquired his education from Harvard University. Later, he gained professional training at the American Repertory Company and the Lee Strasberg Institute.

Mostow set off his career in 1989 by directing a direct-to-video horror comedy, 'Beverly Hills Bodysnatchers'. He undertook significant projects such as 'The Game (1997)' and signed a lucrative deal with Universal Pictures. His directorial credits extend to brilliant films like 'U-571' (2000) which topped the U.S. box office chart and the third installment of the 'Terminator' film series in 2003. In 2008, Mostow co-wrote a comic book series, 'The Megas', further expanding his creative repertoire. He returned to directing with 'Surrogates' (2009) followed by 'The Hunter's Prayer' (2017). In his personal life, Mostow tied the knot with writer Laurie Sandell in 2018.
