Dassin was subjected to Hollywood blacklist and subsequently moved to France, and later to Greece, where he continued his career. He was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Screen Directors' Guild.
Dassin's filmography includes a wide array of notable and influential movies, such as 'Du rififi chez les hommes', which won him a Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
