**Michael Caton-Jones**, born as Michael Jones on 15th October 1957, is a celebrated Scottish director and producer who has left a marked footprint in both film and television. Originating from Broxburn, West Lothian, Scotland, he later moved to London and took residence in a squat in Stoke Newington. There, he honed his skillset by attending the National Film and Television School. His extensive career has seen him direct a broad range of notable films and series that span diverse genres. Credits to his directorial genius include the World War II film '*Memphis Belle*' (1990), the romantic comedy '*Doc Hollywood*' (1991), the biographical drama '*This Boy's Life*' (1993), the historical epic '*Rob Roy*' (1995), the action thriller '*The Jackal*' (1997), and the erotic thriller sequel '*Basic Instinct 2*' (2006). He had the helm in the Channel 4 miniseries '*Brond*' (1987) and '*World Without End*' (2012). He has also worked as an executive producer, overseeing projects like 'Rob Roy' and 'After the Wedding'.** In October 2017, he revealed to BuzzFeed News that his directorial role in the production of the 1998 crime drama film '*B. Monkey*' was cut short when he refused to comply with an unethical demand to fire lead actress Sophie Okonedo.
