Michael Zimbalist

Michael Zimbalist is an American filmmaker with a remarkable career, boasting three Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award to his name. He was born on January 20, 1980 in Northampton, Massachusetts. An alumnus of both Wesleyan University and the esteemed New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, he has tried his hands at not only directing but also producing and writing for film. Over time, his films have found homes across major platforms including HBO, Netflix, Apple, Fox, Showtime, PBS, ESPN, BBC, and have also achieved worldwide theatrical distribution. Zimbalist's broad audience appeal doesn't end with films alone: he has produced and directed commercial work for big brands such as RealTruck, Gatorade, Pepsi, Verizon, and the NFL. Notably, in 2010, he wrote, directed and produced 'The Two Escobars' with his brother Jeff Zimbalist, which captured the global cinematic stage with selections at various reputable film festivals and was subsequently released by Disney / ESPN Films. Between 2010 and 2014, Michael produced four entries in the ESPN's 30 for 30 series, one of them being 'Youngstown Boys,' which he also co-wrote, directed, and earned him a Sports Emmy Award in 2014. Pelé: Birth of a Legend and 'Loving Pablo' are among his celebrated works in later years.
