Pablo Larraín Matte was born on 19 August 1976 in Santiago, Chile. He is a renowned Chilean filmmaker known for directing high-profile films such as No (2012), Neruda (2016), Jackie (2016), Spencer (2021), El Conde (2023), and Maria (2024). He has left quite an impact in the world of cinema, along with his brother Juan de Dios. They co-produced Sebastián Lelio's A Fantastic Woman (2017), which received an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the first such accolade for a Chilean film. It was also under his directorial reign that the Apple TV+ psychological romance horror miniseries entitled Lisey's Story, was birthed in 2021. In addition to these achievements, Larraín's directorial work has also extended to the realm of television. He has directed the highly-acclaimed television series Prófugos and has innovatively expressed stories during the COVID-19 pandemic through the anthology series, Homemade. His upcoming projects include Maria, a film on the final days of Maria Callas, wherein Angelina Jolie will be starring.
