Paolo Virzì

Paolo Virzì is an acclaimed Italian film director, writer, and producer who has been active in the film industry since 1986. Born on March 4, 1964, in Livorno, Italy, Virzì showcased his artistic talents early on, diving into writing, directing, and acting during his teenage years. He formed a significant artistic partnership with his schoolmate, Francesco Bruni, who later became his trusted co-screenwriter. Virzì eventually moved to Rome and studied screenwriting at the renowned Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia film school.

His directorial debut came in 1994 with 'La bella vita', and Virzì has subsequently created a rich portfolio of works, including 'Ovosodo', 'Kisses and Hugs', 'Caterina in the Big City', and 'Like Crazy'. His film, 'Human Capital', an adaptation of the novel by American writer Stephen Amidon, was the official Italian entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2015 Academy Awards. His 2017 movie, 'The Leisure Seeker', features Hollywood stars Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren.
