Raja Raymond Gosnell is regarded as accomplished American film director and editor, known particularly for his contributions to comedies and family films. His birth occurred in Los Angeles, California on December 9, 1958, and he was named after his father's friend Raja Mohideen.

Gosnell's career initiated in 1980 when he worked as an assistant editor on the movie 'Popeye' in collaboration with director Robert Altman. His first individual credit arrived through the film 'The Silence', soon after which Gosnell efficiently served as editor for various other films such as 'Teen Wolf Too', 'Pretty Woman', and 'Rookie of the Year'. He is also recognized for his professional collaboration with Chris Columbus, editing high-profile films such as 'Home Alone' series and 'Mrs. Doubtfire'. After his directorial debut with 'Home Alone 3', Gosnell went on to direct highly successful films like 'Big Momma's House', 'Scooby-Doo', 'The Smurfs' and its sequel, and other notable films. Despite his works mostly facing poor reception from critics, they have generally proved highly successful at the box office. In 2021, Gosnell ventured into co-direction with his son, Bradley, for the film 'Gun and a Hotel Bible'.
