Romain Gavras, born on 4th July 1981, is a prominent figure in the French film industry, known for both directing and screenwriting. He gained worldwide approval and acclaim for directing M.I.A.'s music videos, namely 'Bad Girls' and 'Born Free'. In addition, his mastery of visual storytelling brought another dimension to Kanye West and Jay-Z's 'No Church in the Wild' video as well as Jamie xx's 'Gosh'. Furthermore, Gavras's dalliance with thematic video artistry also extended to the stress-inducing music video for Justice's single 'Stress'. Apart from music videos, he has also directed several films. His second film, 'The World Is Yours', was showcased and recognized at the Director's Fortnight during the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. His third film, 'Athena' made its debut at the prestigious 79th Venice International Film Festival in 2022. In terms of his background, Gavras hails from a lineage of creatives. His father is Costa-Gavras, a well-known Greek-French film director. He is also a key member of the film group Kourtrajmé, working alongside names like Kim Chapiron, Ladj Ly and Toumani Sangaré.
