Francisco Camargo, a devoted farmer from Pirenópolis in Goiás, harbors an ambitious dream: to transform two of his nine children into a successful sertanejo duo. He channels his aspirations into his eldest son, Mirosmar, gifting him a small accordion on his 11th birthday. Alongside his brother Emival, who strums the guitar, they quickly achieve local fame in their village of Capela do Rio do Peixe. However, when they lose their family property in the 1970s, they have no choice but to relocate to Goiânia.
In Goiânia, Mirosmar and Emival find themselves performing at the bustling local bus station, hoping to earn enough money to support their family. It is there they meet Miranda, a manager whose persuasion leads them and their parents into an initial two-week tour under the guise of Camargo & Camarguinho. Unfortunately, the tour stretches into four months, prompting Francisco to prohibit any further tours. Yet, when Miranda demonstrates a genuine commitment to their safety, Francisco reassesses his stance and agrees to a new, more careful tour arrangement. As the brothers embrace this opportunity, they capture the hearts of audiences across the country, but tragedy strikes when a car accident claims Emival’s life, abruptly ending their musical journey.
Devastated yet determined, Mirosmar grapples with the loss but ultimately resolves to return to music, adopting the stage name Zezé di Camargo. He seeks fortune in São Paulo, where he records a solo album, only to find it lacking in commercial success. Married and raising two daughters, he struggles to provide for his family, resorting to having other duos perform his songs. His fortunes change when he reunites with his brother Welson, who shares his passion for singing and takes on the name Luciano. Together, they produce an album that, with their father’s support, propels their hit song “É o Amor” to the top of the charts, solidifying their place as a celebrated musical duo.
