Ana de Armas

**Ana Celia de Armas Caso**, widely known as **Ana de Armas**, was born in Havana, Cuba, on 30th April 1988. She ventured into acting in her native Cuba, featuring in the romantic drama _Una rosa de Francia_ in 2006. At 18, she decided to move to Madrid, Spain, and gained recognition for her role in the Spanish television drama El Internado, which ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2010. Her determination for bigger roles propelled her to move to Los Angeles, where she continued to portray English-speaking roles in films like _Knock Knock_ (2015) and _War Dogs_ (2016). Her breakthrough came with a role as a holographic AI in the science-fiction film _Blade Runner 2049_ (2017), followed by a performance as nurse Marta Cabrera in _Knives Out_ (2019), which garnered a Golden Globe nomination. She also featured in _No Time to Die_ (2021), a James Bond film, and has recently received an Academy Award nomination for her role in _Blonde_ (2022). Born in Havana, Ana grew up in the small city of Santa Cruz del Norte, raised by her parents, Ramón, a man of various roles including bank manager and teacher, and Ana, a human resources officer in the Ministry of Education. Despite growing up in the hardship of Cuba's Special Period, de Armas describes her early life as happy. Her only source of entertainment was often 20 minutes of cartoons and a Sunday movie matinee, as her family did not own a video or DVD player. She kindled her passion for acting at an early age, practising monologues in front of mirrors, and successfully auditioning to join Havana's National Theatre of Cuba at age 14. Ana's career has since soared high, featuring in various roles from romantic dramas to thrillers, and earning critical acclaim and accolades.
