Annette Bening

Annette Carol Bening, born on May 29, 1958, is renowned as a versatile American actress with a career spanning more than four decades. Garnering numerous accolades, Bening has demonstrated outstanding work across the stage and screen, earning a BAFTA Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and nominations for five Academy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Tony Awards. A graduate of San Francisco State University and the American Conservatory Theater, she initiated her career on stage with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival company in 1980, playing Lady Macbeth in 1984 at the American Conservatory Theater. Bening's film debut came in 1988, followed by recognition for her role in The Grifters in 1990, for which she received her first Academy Award nomination. Her reputation has continued to rise with Oscar-nominated performances in comedy-dramas like American Beauty (1999) and Being Julia (2004), and her title character role in the British television film Mrs. Harris (2005).

She has continued to excel in roles, such as a lesbian mother in The Kids Are All Right (2010) and swimmer Diana Nyad in the Netflix biographical film Nyad (2023). Her return to Broadway in the revival of Arthur Miller's All My Sons (2019) earned her another Tony nomination. In her personal life, Bening was married to J. Steven White from 1984 to 1991, and she has been married to actor Warren Beatty since 1992. They have four children, including actress Ella Beatty.
