Anson Mount

**Anson Adams Mount IV** is an accomplished American actor, born on February 25, 1973, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, U.S. Known for his versatile television roles, Mount gained fame for his role as Cullen Bohannon in the AMC western drama series _Hell on Wheels_, and Jim Steele on the NBC series _Conviction_ (2006). Fans also remember him as the Marvel Comics superhero Black Bolt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) media franchise. He appeared in MCU's _Inhumans_ and _Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness_. His portrayal of Captain Christopher 'Chris' Pike in the Star Trek television series, _Discovery_, _Short Treks_, and _Strange New Worlds_, is widely acclaimed. Early in life, Mount attended Dickson County High School in Dickson, Tennessee, followed by the University of the South, and Columbia University. He also has a significant theatre presence, starring in Terrence McNally's _Corpus Christi_ in 1998 and Robert O'Hara's _Mankind_ at Playwrights Horizons in 2018. In movies, Mount debuted in 2000 with the independent film _Tully_. He produced and starred in the award-winning independent film _Cook County_ in 2009. Mount continues to contribute to the MCU, reprising his role as Black Bolt in the 2022 film _Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness_. Besides acting, Mount is an adjunct assistant professor at Columbia University, teaching audition techniques for graduate actors. He also writes non-fiction pieces published in various magazines and newspapers.
