Awkwafina, born as Nora Lum on June 2, 1988, is an American actress, comedian, and rapper. She rose to fame in 2012 with her YouTube hit rap song 'My Vag' and then released her debut album, Yellow Ranger in 2014. Concurrently, she made her presence in the MTV comedy series Girl Code during 2014-2015. She further expanded her portfolio with supporting roles in movies like Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Ocean's 8, Crazy Rich Asians, and Jumanji: The Next Level. She marked her success in the acting field by winning a Golden Globe Award for her starring role in The Farewell in 2019. The year 2020 saw Awkwafina embracing multiple roles as a co-creator, writer, and executive producer of the Comedy Central series Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens. In 2021, she played the character Katy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Her versatility is not limited to live-action, as she made her mark in animated films by providing voiceovers in films such as Storks, The Angry Birds Movie 2, Raya and the Last Dragon, and The Bad Guys.
