Barry Rothbart

Barry Rothbart is an American comedian, actor, and writer celebrated for his versatile talent and unique comedy style. Born on May 25, 1983, Rothbart's colorful life started in Forest Hills, Queens, New York. Interestingly, he seemed to have used events from his life as fodder for his future comedy. His father was a bookie for the Gambino Crime Family but claimed to be a music producer. His father's deceit and subsequent downfall, which included a stint of embezzlement and a disastrous bet on the Red Sox, served as a grim yet fascinating backdrop for Rothbart's early life experiences. Rothbart's education was similarly non-conventional. Initially attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell, he then moved to Pace University to study business, but his passion for film led him to Hofstra University. Rothbart studied the art form before focusing on stand-up comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where he honed his comedic skills. After a seven-year stint in New York City, Rothbart relocated to Los Angeles, where he continues to thrive professionally. Beginning his career in commercials, Rothbart made his stand-up debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2011, an essential milestone in any comedian's career. Just two years later, he was recognized as one of the 'Top Ten Comics to Watch' by Variety magazine and landed a role in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street. He has also successfully ventured into the realm of podcasts where he has hosted, participated in, and leveraged the medium to share his zany yet heartfelt views on life and people. Rothbart remains a thriving force in the American comedy scene, laughing his way through both good times and adversities.
