Bashir Salahuddin

Bashir Salahuddin, born on June 30, 1976, is a talented American actor, writer, and comedian. Born and raised in South Side of Chicago, Illinois, his early life was heavily influenced by his father's migration from Panama and the rich culture that came with it. After his parents' divorce, Bashir, along with his five full siblings, grew up embracing the 'immigrant work ethic' instilled in them by their father. After completing high school, Salahuddin attended Harvard University intending to be a pre-medical student, but a spark of interest in acting shifted his focus. His interest deepened when he joined the Hasty Pudding theatre group, where he met and befriended Diallo Riddle, who would later influence his career greatly.

After graduating in 1998, Salahuddin returned to Chicago and worked as a paralegal. Determined to pursue acting, he moved to Los Angeles in the early 2000s and started working as a PA at Warner Brothers and a waiter. He got his big break alongside his friend Diallo Riddle, and they began creating web videos that ultimately landed them a job on David Alan Grier's show, Chocolate News, in 2008. Salahuddin has also acted in notable productions such as Superstore, Snatched, Arrested Development, and Single Parents. He gained popularity with Netflix's show GLOW, where he essayed a recurring character, and with Comedy Central's South Side, which he created with Riddle. Salahuddin's contribution to the film industry is significant, with him recently signing a big deal with Warner Bros. Television.
