Carrie Alexandra Coon is an eminent American actress recognized for her multi-faceted performances on television, stage, and films. She started her career in 2006 with regional theatre and was immediately recruited by the Madison Repertory Theatre for a production of Our Town. Her breakthrough came in 2010 with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? that earned her a Tony Award nomination and a Theatre World Award. She made her on-screen debut in the NBC series The Playboy Club in 2011 and later guest-starred on several shows. Carrie received acclamation for her performance in the HBO drama series The Leftovers (2014–2017) and the FX anthology series Fargo (2017), with her performance leading to a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Fargo. She transitioned into films with Gone Girl (2014), and continued her film career with Widows (2018), The Post (2017), The Nest (2020), and His Three Daughters (2024). Her versatile voice talent was also noticed in the superhero film Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

Coon continued her foray into television with The Sinner (2018) and The Gilded Age (2022-present) for which she was again nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award.
