Born on December 18, 1980, she holds both American and Ecuadorian citizenship. Aguilera’s music career began when she appeared on the television series The All New Mickey Mouse Club and Star Search in the early 1990s.

After recording "Reflection", the theme song for Disney's 1998 film Mulan, she signed with RCA Records. Her self-titled debut album became an international success, with singles such as "Genie in a Bottle", "What a Girl Wants", and "Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)" reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.
